Birmingham Hosts The World Games 2022 From July 7 -17, 2002
BIRMINGHAM, Ala., USA, Dec. 2, 2021 – Birmingham, Alabama has been named one of the “22 Best Places to Go in 2022” by Conde Naste Traveler magazine in part due to the city hosting The World Games from July 7-17 next year, according to the magazine.
Birmingham is “the first American host for The World Games, an 11-day, 34-sport event (including tug of war and wheelchair rugby) expected to draw 500,000 spectators,” Conde Naste Traveler writes.
“To have this prestigious, world-renowned magazine rank Birmingham as one of the best places in the entire world to visit is a testament to the years of hard work by so many in our great city,” said Nick Sellers, the CEO of The World Games 2022. “Birmingham is coming of age and has so much to offer in terms of entertainment, history, sports and more. And when we welcome thousands of fans from around the world next July, they will see a community of incredible people that, like a champion athlete, has a story of triumph over tragedy.
