IFS has been granted full recognition by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) during the 133rd IOC Session meeting held in Buenos Aires on 9 October, 2018.
The decision for the full recognition was made as a result of significant progress made by IFS in its institutional development in addition to the promotion and progress of the sport of Sumo.
IFS continues to be fully committed to the principles set out in the Olympic Charter as well as fulfilling the obligations as a Recognized International Federation. We look forward to working with the IOC for the benefit of our athletes.
