The World Games 2021 Hires Kathy Boswell as Vice President of Community Engagement

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The World Games 2021 Birmingham today announced the appointment of Kathy Boswell as vice president of community engagement. In this role, Boswell will be responsible for developing relationships across Birmingham and the surrounding region, as well as managing key community programs.

“Kathy Boswell is a universally respected member of our community whose passion is contagious,” said DJ Mackovets, CEO of The World Games 2021 Birmingham. “Her vision, ability to cultivate relationships, and experience working with Birmingham-based organizations make her the perfect fit for this role. As vice president of community engagement, Boswell will provide ongoing communication and outreach in the community, cultivate tourism and cultural initiatives, and oversee a number of key programs, including the Live Healthy, Play Global education program, the World of Opportunity supplier diversity program and The World Games 2021 sustainability program.

A seasoned community relations professional, Boswell brings decades of experience to the global event. Prior to joining the Birmingham Organizing Committee of The World Games 2021, Boswell was director of employee engagement at the Birmingham Education Foundation, where she managed a full redesign of the organization’s human resources processes, along with conducting a company-wide assessment of values and mission.

Over the course of her career, Boswell has also managed community relations within the healthcare industry, including serving as director of patient experience at Brookwood Baptist Health, community relations specialist at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama, and as director of community relations at Princeton Baptist Medical Center, where she developed initiatives that aided the center in receiving millions of dollars in funding.

The World Games 2021 Birmingham will take place July 15-25, 2021, and will generate an estimated $256 million in economic impact for the city.
