Protective Stadium is Birmingham’s new $180 million dollar open-air stadium at the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex (BJCC). Expected to be completed in 2021, the stadium will have a 47,100 seating capacity and will host the official introduction and grand finale of The World Games 2022!





OPENING CEREMONY
The Opening Ceremony, presented by Alabama Power, will take place on July 7, 2022 and be the official introduction to The World Games 2022 and the City of Birmingham. It will be a colorful and entertaining celebration of sport featuring live entertainment, special effects and a parade of athletes representing more than 100 countries.

CLOSING CEREMONY
The Closing Ceremony will take place on July 17, 2022 as the grand finale of The World Games 2022. It is a celebration of The Games featuring live entertainment, and an opportunity for athletes, fans and volunteers to bid farewell to Birmingham, USA. It will also include the ceremonial passing of The World Games flag to representatives from the next host city of The World Games.
